Castello di Fénis

The Castello di Fénis, also known as Fénis Castle, is a medieval castle located in the town of Fénis, in the Aosta Valley region of Italy. It is one of the most famous castles in the region and a major tourist attraction. The castle has a pentagonal layout with towers at the corners and is surrounded by a double boundary wall with battlements. It was built in the 14th century by the Challant family and features a mix of defensive and residential architecture. The castle's interior is divided into three floors, with the first floor housing the weaponry, kitchen, and storage areas, the second floor featuring the lords' chambers and reception rooms, and the third floor dedicated to the servants' quarters. The castle also features a beautiful courtyard with a semi-circular stone staircase, wood balconies, and frescoes attributed to the school of Giacomo Jaquerio. Visitors can explore the castle's many rooms, including the chapel, the Hall of Arms, and the kitchen, and enjoy the stunning views of the surrounding countryside
