Wicklow Mountains

Mountain range Bray, County Wicklow, Ireland

What to expect

The Wicklow Mountains National Park is a wonderful place for hill-walking and hiking, with nine waymarked trails, including the Spinc trail, which offers spectacular views of the Upper Lake. The park features wide-open vistas, winding mountain roads, and fast-flowing streams that descend into the deep lakes of the wooded valleys. Visitors can explore the uplands on a hike or scenic drive and enjoy the park's biodiversity and landscape. The park is also home to Glendalough Valley, which boasts a 6th-century monastic site and a variety of walking trails. The Wicklow Mountains experience a temperate oceanic climate with mild, damp summers and cool, wet winters, and the dominant habitat of the uplands consists of blanket bog, heath, and upland grassland
