What to expect

Powerscourt Estate is a large country estate with a house and landscaped gardens, occupying 19 hectares. The house, originally a 13th-century castle, was altered during the 18th century by German architect Richard Cassels. The estate features beautifully landscaped gardens, a grand mansion house, and a waterfall, which is the highest in Ireland at 121m. Visitors can explore the gardens, which include a Japanese garden, a pet cemetery, and a variety of walking trails. The estate also has a restaurant and café, as well as shops selling Irish design and gifts. The Powerscourt Waterfall is a popular spot for picnics and barbecues, and the surrounding area is home to a variety of wildlife, including Sika deer and red squirrels
