Carrowmore Megalithic Cemetery is one of the largest and most important megalithic sites in Europe, with over 30 tombs, including passage tombs, dolmens, and boulder circles. The site is located on a small plateau and is dominated by the mountain of Knocknarea to the west. Visitors can explore the tombs and see the breathtaking prehistoric landscape, with epic views of Ben Bulben. The site is considered one of the 'big four' sites of megalithic importance along with Carrowkeel, Loughcrew, and Brú na Bóinne. The cemetery is home to the largest collection of ancient megalithic monuments in Ireland, with some dating back almost 6,000 years. The site has a restored cottage with an exhibition that provides insight into the history and significance of the tombs.
