Trim Castle is the largest Anglo-Norman castle in Ireland, built by Hugh de Lacy and his son Walter over a period of 30 years. The castle is situated on the south bank of the River Boyne in Trim, County Meath, and features a massive 20-sided tower that was once protected by a ditch, curtain wall, and water-filled moat. The castle has a rich history, having been owned by various families including the de Lacy, Geneville, and Mortimer families. Today, the castle is open to visitors and offers guided tours, a gift shop, and walking trails. The castle grounds are also home to interpretation panels that allow for self-guiding. The site has restricted access for visitors with disabilities, but there are facilities such as toilets and a river walk
