What to expect

The Hill of Tara is a historic site that has been in use for over 5,000 years, with a rich history dating back to the late Stone Age. It was an important place of burial and assembly, and later became the legendary inauguration site of the ancient High Kings of Ireland. The site features numerous monuments and earthworks, including the Mound of the Hostages, a Neolithic passage tomb, and the Lia Fáil, a standing stone believed to be the Stone of Destiny. Visitors can explore the site and learn about its history and mythology, and guided tours are available to help bring the site to life. Goosebumps at Tara Hill: A personal campfire story
This family's experience:

Activities: We parked our car and walked on the grounds. We had a picnic, and the kids were not interested in the numerous information boards. We explored the Mound of Hostages, Cormac's House, and the Rath Laoghaire

Highlights: We enjoyed having a picnic there. "The place of their breakfast [was] mystical and historically charged". Janis seemed to enjoy the story about the battle that took place there: "I see ganz viele Männer [many men]." ✨
