Malahide Castle is a magnificent medieval castle with a dramatic 800-year heritage. The castle has been home to the Talbot family for 791 years and features a central Norman tower house, an interesting Talbot Family Exhibition, and interpretation area. The house is furnished with beautiful period furniture and an extensive collection of Irish portrait paintings. The castle also hosts many events throughout the year. The Talbot Botanic Gardens, situated behind the castle, comprise several hectares of plants and lawns, a walled garden, and seven glasshouses, including a Victorian conservatory. The gardens showcase the plant-collecting passion of the 7th Lord Talbot of Malahide in the mid-20th Century. The demesne is one of few surviving examples of 18th-century landscaped parks and has wide lawns surrounded by a protective belt of trees. The castle is family-friendly, with a fairy trail that is perfect for kids of all ages, featuring fun sculptures, fairy houses, and interactive activities
