Humayun's Tomb

Humayun's Tomb is a masterpiece of Mughal architecture, built in 1569-70 by Humayun's widow, Biga Begum, at a cost of 1.5 million rupees. The tomb is a synthesis of Persian architecture and Indian traditions, with a unique octagonal plan, four elongated sides, and a grand double dome. The complex is set amidst a beautiful garden, laid out in char bagh style, with pools and channels. The tomb is the final resting place of over 100 members of the Mughal dynasty, including Humayun himself.
