Barnafoss is a rapid waterfall in West Iceland, known for its dark history in folklore. The waterfall is situated on the river Hvítá in Borgarfjörður and is part of the same trail system as the nearby Hraunfossar waterfall. According to legend, the waterfall got its name 'Children's Falls' from a tragic event where two boys from a nearby farm fell to their deaths while trying to cross a natural stone bridge over the waterfall. Today, visitors can view the waterfall from above and explore the surrounding area, which includes the peaceful Hraunfossar waterfall and other nearby attractions such as the Deildartunguhver hot spring and the settlements of Reykholt and Borgarnes
