Svalvogar is a 49-kilometre circular route between the fjords of Dýrafjörður and Arnarfjörður, offering breathtaking views of the Westfjords Alps. The route is also known as the Dream Road and is considered one of the most beautiful routes in the country. It's a challenging route, with a narrow exposed coastal track that's not suitable for small cars and is best enjoyed by mountain bike or 4x4 vehicle. The route takes you through rugged terrain, with steep cliffs and stunning scenery, including hidden coves, abandoned farms, and the Svalvogaviti lighthouse. For families, it's essential to be prepared for a workout and to consider the safety of all passengers, especially those afraid of heights

Activities: We cycled along the gravel track and muddy cliff top, passing a lighthouse and always with the sea in our sights. We even had to ford small rivers and synchronize our ride with the movement of the moon on a section which gets completely submerged at high tide
Highlights: The kids loved the challenge of fording the rivers and the stunning scenery. We all enjoyed the incredible solitude and the feeling of being in the absolute middle of nowhere ✨
