What to expect

The Westman Islands, or Vestmannaeyjar, are an archipelago of 15 islands and 30 rock stacks off the South Coast of Iceland. The islands have incredible natural beauty, with the world's largest population of nesting puffins in summer and a fascinating history. Visitors can explore the islands' unique landscape, including the Elephant Rock, and learn about the islands' history, including the 1973 volcanic eruption that shaped the island of Heimaey. The islands offer various activities, such as boat tours, and are home to several museums, including the Eldheimar volcano eruption museum and the Sea Life Trust beluga sanctuary
