What to expect

Skaftafell is a preservation area in Öræfi, southeast Iceland, known for its agreeable climate and sunny days in summer. The area features a natural birch wood, Bæjarstaðarskógur, and many species of birds and Arctic foxes. Visitors can explore the valley Morsárdalur, the mountain Kristínartindar, and the glacier Skaftafellsjökull. The landscape has been formed over thousands of years by volcanic eruptions and glaciers, creating a unique and fascinating environment. The area is also home to the waterfall Svartifoss, which flows over a step of about 20 metres, and is surrounded by black basalt columns. There are many hiking trails crossing the area, making it a great destination for families who love nature and outdoor activities
