Stjórnarfoss is a beautiful waterfall on Iceland's South Coast, easily accessible on a Ring Road tour. The picturesque waterfall may not be as famous as its counterparts in the region, but its scenic landscape is worth the visit. It has a height of nearly 49 feet and a unique dome shape of its cliff. The waterfall has two parts, an upper and lower tier, and its surrounding landscapes make up for its relatively small size. The waterfall is flanked by rugged volcanic hills and is a great spot for photography. Visitors can get close to the waterfall and even swim in the pool of water in front of it on warm summer days. The nearby town of Kirkjubæjarklaustur is a great place to stop for supplies and has a population of around 200 inhabitants
