Gljúfrabúi

Waterfall Rangárþing eystra, Suðurland, Iceland

What to expect

Gljúfrabúi, also known as Gljufrafoss, is a waterfall located in a narrow canyon. The waterfall is 40 meters tall and cascades into a moss-covered canyon formed by volcanic and glacial activity. To access the waterfall, visitors must follow a small trail and wade through the rocky stream. The canyon walls consist of black basalt rock, and visitors can climb specific sections to get a better perspective of the waterfall. The area is also home to other natural landmarks, including Seljalandsfoss Waterfall, which is just a short walk away. Visitors can explore the cliffs, take in the scenic views, and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere. It's recommended to wear sturdy, waterproof shoes due to the rocky stream and potential for falling rocks
