Skjálfandi

Skjálfandi, also known as Skjálfandaflói, is a bay in northern Iceland with some characteristics of a fjord. The bay is known for its whale-watching opportunities, with several species of whales, dolphins, and seabirds, including puffins, present in the area. The bay is surrounded by a beautiful coastline and the Kinnarfjoll mountains, making it a picturesque destination. Visitors can take a whale-watching tour from Húsavík, the only town on the waterfront, to see the marine life in the bay. The area is also home to the Laxá river, a freshwater river known for its large population of salmon, and the Skjalfandafljot river, a glacial river that feeds into the bay
