What to expect
Husavik is a small town in northeast Iceland, situated on the shores of Skjálfandi Bay, just below the Arctic Circle. It is known as the whale watching capital of Europe and is a great base for visiting nearby attractions such as Mývatn, Dettifoss, Goðafoss, and the Vatnajökull National Park. The town has a population of around 2,400 inhabitants and offers a range of activities and amenities for visitors. The Húsavík Whale Museum is a popular attraction, showcasing the town's connection to whales and the sea. Nearby, the Earth Quake Center in Kópasker and the Arctic Henge in Raufarhöfn are also worth visiting.
