What to expect

Po Lin Monastery is a Buddhist monastery located on the plateau of Ngong Ping, on the gorges of Lantau Island, Hong Kong. The monastery is situated near the Lotus Peak, Lei Nak Peak, Lion Head Peak, and Mount Muk Yue, and is the highest monastery in Hong Kong. It is home to the Big Buddha, a 34-meter-tall bronze statue that symbolizes the stability of Hong Kong, prosperity of China, and peace on earth. The monastery also features several landscape gardens, including the Bauhinia Park, Orchid Garden, and a second-growth forest. The area is known for its natural beauty, with scenic views of the surrounding mountains and sea, and is a popular destination for hiking and meditation. The monastery offers a seven-day meditation retreat every year, where senior monks lead participants in sitting and walking meditation, as well as talks on Zen Buddhism
