Gumbalimba Park is a locally owned business and an animal sanctuary located in Roatan, Honduras. The park serves as a sanctuary to several species of animals, some endemic to the island, including spiny-black tailed iguanas, green iguanas, macaws, agoutis, monkeys, turtles, hummingbirds, parrots, and basilisk. The park offers a variety of activities, such as walking through trails, crossing a suspended bridge over a small lagoon, and visiting various animals in their natural state. Visitors can also enjoy the park's beach, pool, and botanical gardens, which feature over 200 species of plants and trees. The park is suitable for families and offers a guided tour, animal encounters, and a museum with a brief history of the island. The white-faced monkeys and macaws roam freely, allowing visitors to take close-up photos and interact with them

Activities: We booked a shore excursion to Gumbalimba Park animal preserve, which has friendly capuchin monkeys from the mainland. We spotted one sloth in the trees, lots of large iguanas, a rodent-like local rabbit, fluffy-footed local chickens and toucans. We took a lot of photos with the parrots and monkeys
Highlights: Tween traveler couldn’t get enough of the monkeys, she let any little capuchin that came near her sit on her arms, shoulders and head and petted their soft fur ✨
