What to expect

The Municipal Garden of Chania is a beautiful oasis in the midst of the city's commercial center, offering a green space for recreation and relaxation. The garden features a small zoo with Kri Kri, the famous wild goats of Crete, as well as ducks, swans, and peacocks. Visitors can also admire the huge Bengal Ficus tree, which is about one and a half centuries old. The garden has a café, an open-air cinema, and a playground, making it a great place to visit with family. The garden is also home to the Chania Watchtower, a landmark building constructed between 1924 and 1927. The Municipal Garden of Chania is a place with historic significance, having been founded in 1870, and is a popular spot for both locals and tourists
