Mount Lykavittos

Mountain Athens, Attiki, Greece

What to expect

Mount Lykavittos, also known as Lycabettus Hill, is a Cretaceous limestone hill and the highest point in Central Athens, offering breathtaking views of the city. The hill is a tourist destination and can be ascended by the Lycabettus Funicular, a funicular railway. At its peak, visitors can find the 19th-century Chapel of St. George, a theatre, and a restaurant. The view from the top is best enjoyed at sunset, with spectacular views of the Acropolis, Temple of Olympian Zeus, Panathenaic Stadium, and Ancient Agora. The hill is also home to the Lycabettus Theater, which hosts concerts and shows during the summer months and has featured famous performers such as Ray Charles, the Pet Shop Boys, and Radiohead. Visitors can enjoy food and drink options, including fine dining at Orizontes restaurant, informal meals at the Sky Bar, or fast food from a booth outside the theater
