What to expect

Anafiotika is a scenic tiny neighborhood in the center of Athens, part of the old historical neighborhood called Plaka. It lies on the northeast side of the Acropolis hill and is known for its picturesque setting, with white-washed houses resembling the Cycladic architecture design. The neighborhood was built in the mid-19th century by workers from the Cycladic island of Anafi, who came to Athens to work as construction workers. Today, Anafiotika is home to less than 50 houses, but the island's atmosphere remains untouched. Visitors can stroll along the car-free cobblestoned alleys and picturesque passageways, taking in the charming little houses and several Byzantine churches. The area is also home to many stray cats, making it a great spot for cat lovers. With its unique architecture and serene surroundings, Anafiotika is a must-visit destination for families and travelers looking to experience the authentic charm of Athens
