Lübeck Rathaus is a medieval town hall and one of the largest and most famous brick Gothic buildings in Germany. The building complex features several Late Gothic and Renaissance extensions, including a grand staircase, a sandstone arcade, and a striking façade with circular holes for improved wind resistance. The Town Hall has served as the city's administrative headquarters and meeting place of the city parliament for nearly 800 years. Visitors can take a guided tour of the building, which includes the magnificent Audience Hall decorated in the Rococo style, and the Ratskeller restaurant in the vaulted cellars, one of the oldest in North Germany. The Town Hall is also home to the Hanseatic Hall, where meetings of the Hanseatic League were held, and the Danzelhus, which hosted lavish banquets and dancing

Highlights: The kids enjoyed sitting in the historical Ratsgestühl (council seating). They found the history and stories interesting, more so than just the facts in a guidebook ✨
