Europäisches Hansemuseum Lübeck

Museum Lübeck, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany

What to expect

The Europäisches Hansemuseum in Lübeck showcases the history of the Hanseatic League. The museum is located in the northern part of the old town, near the Burgkloster and the Marstall. It was opened in 2015 and features a range of exhibits, including interactive displays and recreated scenes from the Hanseatic period. One of the exhibits is a recreation of the Peterhof, a Hanseatic trading post in Novgorod, which was built by the film studio Babelsberg in Potsdam. The museum's architecture and design were planned by Andreas Heller, and the scientific concept of the exhibition was developed by the Hanse researcher Rolf Hammel-Kiesow
