The Königshain Hills are a mainly wooded granite region in Eastern Upper Lusatia, with the highest points being the Kämpferberge and the well-known Hochstein. The area has been a protected area since 1974 and features a bird reserve. Families can enjoy hiking in the Königshain Mountains, with quarries and climbing rocks, and explore the Granit mining museum. The region also offers cycling routes, such as the approximately 26-kilometer circular route around the Königshainer Berge, suitable for mountain-loving cyclists. Additionally, there are short relaxed routes suitable for families and dogs

Activities: We started a bike tour from the Kühlhaus area in Görlitz. The tour led us straight out of the city on an old railway embankment. We reached the town of Königshain, and from here a steep path led up to the old quarries in the Königshainer Mountains. We then reached the Hochsteinbaude
Highlights: The bike ride through the countryside was great fun. The kids loved the challenge of the uphill climb to the Hochsteinbaude and the views were fantastic ✨
