Schaumbergturm

View tower Tholey, Saarland, Germany

What to expect

The Schaumbergturm is an observation tower with a sending facility located on the Schaumberg mountain in the Saarland region of Germany. The 37.5-meter-high tower offers a wide view of the surrounding area, reaching as far as the Hunsrück in the north, the Saargau in the west, and the French nuclear power plant Cattenom. On a clear day, it is even possible to see the Vosges mountains. The tower contains a memorial site for soldiers who fell in the world wars, designed by the sculptor Richard Hoffmann, and is intended to be a symbol of friendship between Germany and France. The tower is accessible via a staircase or a panoramic elevator and offers a platform with panoramic views. There are also exhibitions inside the tower, including one on the topic of climate protection
