Mountain Tholey, Saarland, Germany

What to expect

Mount Schaumberg is a 569-metre-high mountain in Saarland, Germany, that offers a fascinating view over the region. The mountain features an observation tower with two exhibitions, one exploring the history between Germany and France, and the other focusing on climate protection. The tower is accessible by a panoramic lift and has an observation platform with overview photos and fixed telescopes. The mountain also has a playground designed in a Celtic-Roman style, reminiscent of a small Gallic village, and a restaurant, Schaumberg-Alm, where visitors can enjoy a panoramic view of the region. The mountain's plateau has been renovated and features relics of its history, including a late medieval round tower and parts of an old curtain wall

This family's experience:

Activities: We went up the Schaumberg. The views from above were incredible and we took the opportunity to explore the views from the viewpoint. We could see the power plant near Saarbrücken and also the Center Parks houses at Bostalsee

Highlights: The views from the Schaumberg were spectacular! It was a beautiful, sunny afternoon and we had the viewpoint all to ourselves. We could see for miles and enjoyed trying to identify the different buildings ✨
