Keschdeweg

Hiking trail Annweiler am Trifels, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany

What to expect

The Keschdeweg is a 65 km long hiking route that takes you through the Palatinate Forest-North Vosges Biosphere Reserve into the wine region of the German Wine Route. Along the way, the path repeatedly passes through chestnut forests that stretch in a wide strip parallel to the Wine Route at the edge of the Palatinate Forest. The hike begins at the German Shoe Museum in Hauenstein and leads to Annweiler am Trifels, passing through Lug and Wernersberg. The route continues to Albersweiler, then to Villa Ludwigshöhe Castle and Edenkoben, and finally to Neustadt an der Weinstraße. The Keschdeweg offers beautiful views of the Palatinate Forest and the Rhine plain, as well as the opportunity to visit historic castles and towns

Palatinate Forest: Hiking in the Dahner Felsenland and surrounding area
This family's experience:

Activities: We started our hike at Siebeldingen, near Landau, and walked through vineyards to St. Johann. We then went up the hill to Keschdeweg. We enjoyed the views from the edge of the forest. We then went through a chestnut forest to Ringelsberghütte. There is a playground there. Then we walked back to Frankweiler

Highlights: The views from the bank were amazing. We could see Trifels Castle and Kalmit. The children loved the playground at the Wanderhütte. It was great to be able to enjoy the beautiful views of the vineyards. It was also fun to walk through the chestnut forest and look for chestnuts ✨
