What to expect

The Velmerstot is a hill in the Eggegebirge ridge, with two summits, the Prussian Velmerstot and the Lippe Velmerstot. The hill offers scenic highlights and impressive panoramic views, including a 17-meter-high viewing tower, the Eggeturm, which provides a fascinating view over the Egge, Teutoburg Forest, and Weser Uplands. The descent leads through the romantic Silberbachtal valley, with its natural notch valley, babbling brook, and striking rock formations. The area is suitable for hiking and offers a variety of landscapes, including mountain heath and forest. Sturdy footwear and a good level of fitness are recommended to safely master the sometimes steep ascents and descents

Teutoburg Forest: Hiking and camping in NRW
This family's experience:

Activities: We hiked the Velmerstot-Runde, a 5.5-kilometer round trip from the Kattenmühle car park. The trail led us along a stream and then up a slope, finally reaching the Preußische Velmerstot, where we enjoyed the 360-degree view from the Eggeturm. We also visited the Lippische Velmerstot

Highlights: The kids loved the climb and the views from the top, especially from the Eggeturm. The woods and the views made it a pleasant hike, even with the steep sections ✨
