What to expect

The Insekten- und Schmetterlingsmuseum is a great place for families to visit, with a large collection of insects, including over 100,000 butterflies, beetles, and other insects. The museum features a tropical garden with many exotic plants, where visitors can see around 400 colorful butterflies from about 40 different species flying freely. The museum also has an insect zoo with a large insectarium, where visitors can see many large beetles, stick insects, tarantulas, and scorpions in naturalistic habitats. Additionally, there is an insect cinema, a dark cabinet with glow-in-the-dark star columns, and a museum shop

Activities: We visited the Insect and Butterfly Museum, and spent about an hour there. We enjoyed the free flight hall, where exotic butterflies fluttered around. The insects are in terrariums. We used Wikipedia for additional information

Highlights: We particularly enjoyed the free-flight hall with its diverse species of exotic butterflies. Some landed on us. The collection of insects, partly prepared, partly alive in terrariums, is impressive. The kids loved the butterflies! ✨
