Schloss Gifhorn

Schloss Gifhorn is a castle complex built between 1525 and 1581 in the style of the Weser Renaissance. The castle was never taken and features a unique trapezoidal shape with bastion towers, a moat, and walls. The complex includes several buildings, such as the Torhaus, Ablagerhaus, Schlosskapelle, and Kommandantenhaus. The Schlosskapelle is the oldest evangelical church in Northern Germany and features a sarcophagus of Herzog Franz and a life-sized wooden sculpture of him. The castle's history dates back to a water castle built around 1000, which was later replaced by the current castle. Today, the castle is a popular tourist destination and offers a glimpse into the region's rich history
