What to expect
The Levantehaus is a historic Kontorhaus in the Hamburg Altstadt, located on Mönckebergstraße. The building was originally constructed in 1911-1912 and was later rebuilt after being destroyed in 1943-1944. It features a symmetrical design with a central portal and three protruding bay windows. The building has undergone several transformations over the years, including a renovation in the 1990s that converted it into a shopping passage and a 5-star hotel. Hamburg low budget: Sightseeing with children
Activities: We strolled through the Levantehaus while walking through Hamburg's main pedestrian zone. We looked at the shops and admired the figure frieze with a rhino and a giant octopus. We also saw the old Paternoster elevators
Highlights: The figure frieze on the gallery between the ground and upper floors was a great sight. The children enjoyed looking at the shops, especially the Steiff animal shop, and the Märklin shop ✨
