What to expect

The Overburden Conveyor Bridge F60, also known as the 'lying Eiffel Tower', is a massive vehicle used in brown coal opencast mining. It stands at 260 feet tall and over 1600 feet long, making it the largest vehicle ever constructed by size. The F60 has two bucket chain excavators and can manage a top speed of less than half a mile per hour. It is powered by two large electric motors and has a crew of 14 to operate. One of the F60s is now a 'visitors' mine' showcasing the area's mining history and is accessible on guided tours. At night, it lights up for a light and sound installation, and the surrounding site is often used for concerts and festivals

As a cultural treasure hunter in the south of Brandenburg with a child
This family's experience:

Activities: We went on a guided tour of the F60. We learned about the history of lignite mining in the Elbe-Elster region. "The Kinder dürfen stets voraus, während unsere Gruppe langsam aber stetig ansteigend über das Stahlgerüst poltert." (The children are always in front, while our group slowly but steadily rumbles up the steel structure)

Highlights: My son loved playing 'miner'! The scale of the F60 was amazing. We had "beste Lust, den gigantischen Abraumförderbagger gleich noch ein zweites Mal zu erkunden." (the best desire to explore the gigantic overburden conveyor bridge again a second time) ✨
