What to expect

The Neues Museum is a museum located on Museum Island in Berlin, showcasing the cultural history of our ancestors across the globe. The museum is housed in a beautiful neoclassical building and pulls together 9,000 interesting and unusual objects spread across three major historical collections. Visitors can take a journey through time and explore the history of Europe and the Middle East from the earliest Stone Age to the Middle Ages. The main attraction of the Neues Museum is undoubtedly the Nefertiti Bust, which is showcased alone in the domed hall in the north of the building. The museum also features other impressive exhibits, including the Berliner 'Green Head' from the Late Period, precious silver vessels from Priam's Treasure, and the Bronze Age golden 'Berlin Gold Hat'

We started with the Egyptian Collection, focusing on the bust of Nefertiti, and then explored other exhibits, including the skeleton of a giant prehistoric elk and the Gold Hat. "Our goal is the Egyptian collection," we headed there from the entrance in the James-Simon-Galerie

Highlights: The children found the Egyptian collection fascinating. The Audioguide for children was well done. "It is a remarkable experience to let the important work of art work on you up close." The bust of Nefertiti was a highlight. "The Egyptian collection draws children in with its mysterious exhibits." ✨
