With 800 exhibits and 200 documents, films, and sound recordings by contemporary witnesses, visitors can delve into the reality of the GDR. The museum features impressive installations, including a 'Trabi' car with a roof tent, a flat with typical furnishings, and a holiday home in the countryside. The exhibition highlights the lack of everyday items, such as adequate living space, electronic appliances, fruit, and vegetables, and how people found happiness in private life. The museum also offers guided tours and audio guides in multiple languages
