Grunewald Forest Museum

Museum Berlin, Berlin, Germany

What to expect

The Grunewald Forest is a 3,000-hectare large forest in Berlin, offering rejuvenating walks on the edge of the city. It is bounded by the Havel to the west, where the peninsula Schildhorn is located with a memorial of the Slavic Prince Jaczo. The forest is also home to the Grunewaldturm, which offers a wonderful view over the Havel and Wannsee. Visitors can also climb the Karlsberg, explore the Lindwerder island, or visit the Jagdschloss Grunewald, Berlin's oldest palace. In winter, the Teufelsberg mountain is used as a ski-slope and toboggan run, while in other seasons, hang-gliders fly in the sky. The forest is a great place for families to enjoy nature and outdoor activities together

This family's experience:

Activities: We went to the Waldmuseum. It's a very playful learning place with 'jede Menge Experimente und spielerische Entdeckungen für kleine Entdecker' (lots of experiments and playful discoveries for little explorers). There were 'Riechkästen, Schüttelschachteln, Tastboxen und ein Vogelstimmenquiz' (smelling boxes, shaking boxes, touch boxes and a bird sound quiz)

Highlights: The kids loved the interactive exhibits, especially the quizzes and experiments. 'Baumscheibenpuzzles, Baumrinden- und Baumfrüchtequiz vermitteln spielerisch Wissen' (Tree slice puzzles, tree bark and tree fruit quizzes playfully convey knowledge). The atmosphere in the garden was unbelievably quiet ✨
