The Berlin Wall Trail is a 160-kilometer trail that follows the course of the former GDR border fortifications encircling West Berlin. The trail is suitable for hiking and biking and offers a blend of nature and dramatic history. Along the way, visitors can see the last remaining watchtowers, museums, and memorials, such as the Berlin Wall Memorial on Bernauer Strasse. The trail is divided into 14 individual sections, each between 7 and 21 kilometers long, making it easy to plan a bike tour or walk. The trail is well-signposted, and maps are displayed at regular intervals to help visitors find their bearings. Additionally, there are info markers and Berlin History Mile stations that provide information in several languages on the division of Germany and the construction and fall of the Berlin Wall

Activities: We cycled on the Berlin Wall Trail with our child. It combined sightseeing, history lessons, and enjoying nature with some sport and fun. We started from Checkpoint Charlie towards the east, enjoying the less crowded path
Highlights: We enjoyed the variety of the trail, seeing historical sites, green spaces, and the East Side Gallery. The East Side Gallery with the artworks was the liveliest part of the tour. We had a nice picnic there too! ✨
