What to expect

The Winklmoos-Alm is a vast alpine pasture area in the Chiemgau Alps, located in the municipality of Reit im Winkl in the Traunstein district of Bavaria, Germany. It is situated on a high plateau at an elevation of approximately 1170 meters above sea level, between the Dürrnbachhorn and Steinplatte mountains. The area is a popular destination for hiking and skiing, with several houses, alpine huts, and accommodation options, including the Traunsteiner Skihütte of the German Alpine Association. The Winklmoos-Alm is also known as the home of Rosi Mittermaier, a multiple Olympic ski champion. Additionally, it has been designated as an International Dark-Sky Park, making it an ideal location for stargazing. A annual Bergmesse with Kräuterweihe takes place at the Mariä Himmelfahrt chapel on August 15th

Highlights: The kids loved spending a night on the Alm. "What is a night hike on the Alm under a starry sky for an unforgettable adventure?" We stayed awake until 10:30 PM to see the stars ✨
