What to expect

The Sternenpark Winklmoos-Alm, located in the Chiemgauer Alps, is a unique destination for stargazing. As one of only four officially certified star parks in Germany and the only one in the Alps, it offers an unparalleled view of the night sky with up to 6000 stars visible to the naked eye on a clear, moonless night. The park's location, protected from light pollution by the surrounding mountains, makes it an ideal spot for observing the stars. Visitors can participate in guided stargazing tours during the summer, which cover topics such as constellations, distances between galaxies, and light pollution. The park also features special benches for observing the starry sky, making it a great destination for families to explore and learn about the universe together

This family's experience:

Activities: We went on a night walk in the Sternenpark. The Winklmoos-Alm is the first certified star park in the Alps. We stayed awake until 10:30 PM, then went on a small round trip. We forgot our toothbrushes

Highlights: We enjoyed seeing the stars, planets, and the Milky Way. The kids were a bit scared of the cows in the dark. "A little bit of weak knees also belongs to a real adventure." ✨
