What to expect

Herrenchiemsee Castle is a palace located on an island in Bavaria, Germany. The palace, also known as the New Palace, was built as a 'Temple of Fame' for King Louis XIV of France and modelled on Versailles. The state rooms, including the State Staircase, State Bedroom, and Great Hall of Mirrors, can be visited as part of a guided tour. The palace also features a large garden with fountains and waterworks. Visitors can use a carriage service to travel between the landing stage and the New Palace. Photography is allowed outside the palace for private use, but not inside the buildings. The island has free Wi-Fi and offers lockers for storing bulky items. Dogs and other pets are not allowed in the buildings, and bicycles, scooters, and roller blades are not permitted on the island for safety reasons
