The Rauher Kulm is a small basalt mountain located in the Upper Palatinate region of Bavaria, Germany. It stands at 681 meters tall and features a 25-meter tall observation tower at its peak, offering stunning views of the surrounding landscape, including the northern Franconian Switzerland, the southern wall of the Fichtel Mountains, and the Upper Palatinate Forest. The mountain has a rich history, with a castle built on top of it during the Middle Ages, which was later destroyed during the Second Margrave War. Today, the Rauher Kulm is a popular hiking destination, with several well-marked paths leading to the summit and around the surrounding forests.
