What to expect
The Tierfreigelände am Nationalparkzentrum Lusen is a large outdoor animal enclosure in the Bavarian Forest National Park, home to around 40 different bird and mammal species. The enclosure is designed to mimic the animals' natural habitats, with spacious landscape enclosures and aviaries. Visitors can explore the area via a 7-kilometre circular path, which is accessible for wheelchair users and offers regular seating areas. The path is signposted throughout and features informative boards about the animals. The National Park Centre Lusen, located nearby, offers a range of facilities, including a permanent exhibition, a cinema, and a reading gallery. The centre also has a designated children's route with interactive audio stations and a surprise at the end for kids who complete the route. Additionally, the centre has a National Park shop selling books, games, and regional souvenirs

Activities: We spent a whole morning at the Tierfreigelände. We saw many animals like brown bears, lynx, and the Uhu pair. "The kids easily walked the long distances in the company of other children."
