What to expect

Linderhof Palace is a unique and artistic ensemble of the 19th century, influenced by French architecture and modelled on the small summer palaces of 18th century France. The palace features a Rococo world with motifs from the age of Louis XV of France, and its rich ornamentation is not merely an attempt at imitation, but a creation of sumptuousness that surpasses its inspirations. The palace is part of the Ammergebirge Nature Reserve, and visitors can explore the palace and its surrounding park. Visitors are advised to wear suitable footwear and winter equipment, as the palace is located at an altitude of approximately 1000 meters above sea level. Photography is allowed outside the buildings for private use, but taking pictures or filming inside the palace requires permission. The palace offers guided tours, and visitors can also explore the park, which features beautiful gardens and water works. Lockers are available for bulky items, and prams and child carriers can be left at the palace entrance. Dogs are allowed in the park if kept on a lead, but only carried dogs are permitted inside the palace
