What to expect
Hartsee is a beautiful natural area in Bavaria, Germany, surrounded by 17 idyllic lakes and characterized by a rare dead ice landscape. The area is home to rare bird species and protected plants, and has been under special nature protection since 1939. Visitors can explore the unique natural and historical moorland landscape on 28 kilometers of paths, and enjoy refreshment at designated bathing areas in the summer. The Hartsee is also a great spot for hiking, birding, and running, with a 3.5-mile loop trail that takes about 1.5-2 hours to complete. The trail is considered easy and family-friendly, with clearly marked paths and fairly level terrain

Activities: We went on a family hike around Hartsee. We walked along the lake, enjoyed the views, and had breaks. “At the north end of the Hartsee, you will be rewarded with a magnificent view of the Chiemgau Alps.”
Highlights: We enjoyed the easy, but not boring, circular hike. We found many beautiful places for breaks. “A really great round that I can highly recommend to families.” The kids also enjoyed learning about the forest and the different types of trees ✨
