What to expect

The Eggstätt-Hemhofer Seenplatte is a group of 18 lakes with a total area of around 3.5 km², located northwest of the Chiemsee lake in the districts of Eggstätt, Breitbrunn am Chiemsee, Rimsting, and Bad Endorf in the Rosenheim district. The lakes are connected by waterways with low gradient to the north and are fed by groundwater. The Hartsee, with a depth of 39.1 meters, is the deepest lake and drains into the Ischler Achen and then into the Alz river. The Eggstätt-Hemhofer Seenplatte is considered one of the most important ice-age landscapes in the Bavarian Alpine foothills and is a valuable geotope. The area is home to various species of plants and animals and offers a unique landscape for visitors to explore
