What to expect

The Freilichtmuseum Amerang, formerly known as the Bauernhausmuseum Amerang, is an open-air museum showcasing the rural life, living, and economy of past centuries in the region between Chiemsee, Inn, and Salzach. The museum features 16 historic buildings from the Chiemgau and Rupertiwinkel regions, which have been rebuilt on the museum grounds. These buildings demonstrate the rural everyday culture of the region. The museum offers handcraft demonstrations and special event days, where historical work techniques are presented. Visitors can explore the Seilerei or the Wagnerei to gain insight into past working worlds. Special exhibitions delve into folk and domestic topics. The museum's grounds include a variety of historic buildings, such as the Hütt'n of a Vierseithof, a Straßenschmiede, and a Kleinbauernhaus, among others
