What to expect
Constance is a charming university city located at the western end of Lake Constance in the Baden-Württemberg state of south Germany. The city has a rich history, with the first traces of civilization dating back to the late Stone Age. Constance is home to the University of Konstanz and was the residence of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Konstanz for more than 1,200 years. The city has a beautiful Old Town, with quaint wine taverns, fashion boutiques, artist studios, and quirky craft shops. Visitors can enjoy water sports, art, culture, and the finer things in life, with must-see UNESCO World Heritage Sites such as Reichenau Island and the prehistoric pile dwellings around the Alps nearby. The stunning Flower Island of Mainau is also easily accessible by bike or on foot, featuring palm trees, giant redwoods, lemon trees, and orange trees that thrive in the expansive palace gardens and the lake's mild climate

Weekend idea in Germany: Lake Constance
Activities: We visited the city, which is the largest on the lake. We enjoyed walking around the old town (Altstadt), and visited the port and the Imperia statue. The city is perfect to visit on foot
