Teahupo'o is a small village on the southeastern coast of the island of Tahiti in French Polynesia, known for its large, consistent surf and resulting international surfing competitions. The village has a population of roughly 1,500 and a single, one-lane road. Teahupo'o is renowned for its surf break and heavy, glassy waves, often reaching 2 to 3 meters, and sometimes up to 7 meters. The wave's unique shape, with an effect of almost breaking below sea level, is due to the shape of the reef beneath the wave. Visitors can enjoy surfing, beach activities, and cultural tours, and explore the surrounding natural heritage areas. The village is situated at the end of the road, beyond which there is no road, and is a great destination for nature lovers and those looking for authenticity
