Pointe Vénus

Beach Mahina, Îles-du-Vent, French Polynesia

What to expect

Pointe Vénus is a historic location in French Polynesia, marked by a lighthouse that was the first in the South Pacific. The lighthouse, also known as Teara o Tahiti, is a square tower built in 1867 and stands 33 meters tall. It is located on a black sand beach in the commune of Mahina, on the island of Tahiti. The point was named by Captain James Cook, who built an observatory there in 1770 to observe the transit of Venus. Today, the lighthouse is still operational and is used for aerial navigation. The area is also a popular spot for tourism, with a large beach, emerald water, and a rich history. It is a great place to visit with family and friends, offering a mix of culture, sports, and leisure activities

TAHITI with family and French Polynesia
This family's experience:

Activities: We enjoyed bathing on the beaches, especially the Pointe Vénus beach, a black volcanic sand beach east of Papeete. The sea is more agitated, with more waves

Highlights: The older kids loved jumping in the waves at Pointe Vénus ✨
