Gordes is a commune in the Vaucluse department in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region in southeastern France. The village is one of the most visited in the Luberon Regional Natural Park and is known for its rich and varied heritage, including two abbeys, a castle, many old hamlets, several hundred dry stone huts, several windmills and water-mills, fountains, wash houses, and bories. The town is perched on a rock and offers an exceptional view of the northern Luberon. Visitors can enjoy hiking or cycling on the paths and trails of the Luberon, and the surrounding area offers various outdoor activities such as paragliding, climbing, tree climbing, and via ferrata. The village is also home to many cultural events in summer, including museums, festivals, concerts, and exhibitions. The imposing chateau dominating the village dates from the 10th century and was remodeled during the Renaissance, and visitors can explore the Pol Mara museum, the cellars of the Saint Firmin Palace, and the Saint-Firmin church.
