The Obélisque d'Arles, also known as the Arles Obelisk, is a 4th-century Roman obelisk located in the center of the Place de la République in Arles, France. The obelisk is made of granite from Asia Minor and stands approximately 20 meters tall, including its pedestal. It was originally erected in the Roman circus of Arles and was later moved to its current location in the 17th century. The obelisk has undergone several transformations over the years, including the addition of a bronze globe and sun, which were later replaced by a Phrygian cap, an eagle, and finally a bronze capstone. Today, the obelisk is a popular tourist attraction and a symbol of the city of Arles. It is also part of the Arles, Roman and Romanesque Monuments, a UNESCO World Heritage Site
